All About…

All About Eve

I started thinking recently that I’ve never really outlined exactly what this blog is about anywhere (outside of my tagline “My thoughts on things.” I mean really… duh…). Perhaps I never wanted to nail my feet to the floor with a specific topic or theme – and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. If nothing more, it gives me the freedom to write whatever I want, even if it is only rambling on about navel lint. (Just so you’re aware, this post will most likely become the text of my “About” page, because anything “about” my blog will certainly be “about” me as well.)

Ladies and Gentlemen: Saint Clement has Left the Building

Catafalque

Saint Clement’s Church Philadelphia, a great hallmark of Anglo-Catholicism and a standard in the fight for continuing traditional worship and ministry to the poor and needy, died last Sunday at the age of 153.

Saint Clement’s died at her center city home in Philadelphia of complications from a disease contracted from a foreign body. She fought this disease for over a year, said a son who was with her during her demise. Many of her children had left during her illness and she had been sick for “quite a while,” he said. “I just couldn’t continue watching her die like that,” said a daughter distraught over having to leave her behind.

Healthy Changes for a Healthy Life

Spinach, watermelon, banana, orange, flax seed, and almond milk, baby!

Well, I think I’ve reached the point in my life where I’d like to do some of those “healthy” things again.

Oh, I used to do it way back in my 30’s. I did the weight lifting thing, and the proper balanced diet with proteins and carbs, eating every 2-3 hours to keep the metabolism up, dancing for hours on the weekends which also helped me keep fit – hell, I didn’t even have to watch what I ate at that point, it would just melt off me by the mere thought of it doing so! I even had a 6-pack for the first time in my life (today, it’s more like a keg).

If It Wasn’t for Acupuncture, I’d Be in Prison

I really enjoy acupuncture – so much so, that I look forward to it every 2 weeks. After all, it’s downright cured me of a number of issues including chronic migraines, acid reflux, and most recently, seasonal allergies. But I also continue to go because it helps me deal with those every-day stresses.

But it almost seems to unbalance the stress scales when I drive to my acupuncture treatment. And don’t even get me started when there is a Phillies game, or a concert, or anything that totally mucks up traffic on all roadways within a 25-mile radius! By the time I get to my appointment (and late, I might add) I must look to them like an apoplectic mess, shivering with rage, and ready to bitch-slap anyone who looks at me sideways.

Should the Church Re-Evaluate Another Teaching?

In the early part of July, the Bishops of the Episcopal Church of the USA (“ECUSA” or “TEC”) sanctioned same-sex unions and the ceremonial rites for them. Not surprisingly, this has caused a stir among Episcopalians and Anglo-Catholics alike – both for and against the proclamation. Some cheer that the church is doing a good thing by blessing same-sex unions and marriages; others somewhat condemn the decision the church has made. As you can guess, I have my own thoughts on the subject which I will now inflict on you.
