Happy Birthday!

Birthday Cake

I think the concept of “Birthdays” can really go either way for most people. It’s like a pendulum that swings from one extreme to the other. There are those, of course, who will never admit to a birthday (at least not to a year) – as if they were never born; they just appeared one day – and then there are those who will use a birthday as a great excuse to party to the wee hours of the morning.

Me? I’m a little from Column A and a little from Column B. Though I’ve stopped counting at 29, I do still celebrate my birthday every year around the same time each year. It’s more like a moment frozen in time – which can be rather enlightening.

Random Thoughts (III)

The Thinker

I occasionally have these random thoughts. Rather than letting them die a lonely death, I decided to write them down until I had enough of them to post here. These are the ideas that I thought, “Gee, I should post a blog about that,” but then realize it’s either too stupid or short (or both) to create an entire blog posting for, so I save them in Evernote (I love that app!) until I have enough of them saved to torture you with them. So, as you read, you may be thinking, “Perhaps some of them should have died that lonely death….

This is my third installment of “Random Thoughts.” So enjoy… or not.

My Thoughts on Francis

Pope Francis

There’s been a lot of speculation about the new Pope ever since he was elected, about what kind of a Pope he’ll turn out to be, and what his Papacy means for the Roman Catholic Church (and for the world-wide Christian faith at-large, for that matter). Friends have asked me what I thought of him, some other friends just out-right tell me what they think of him, and still others have posted their most inner thoughts about him online (some pro and many con). There have even been written arguments between friends on Facebook, through blog comments, on Twitter, and many places on the internet. So I thought I would just keep my thoughts quiet on the subject until he’s had some time to fully develop into the Pope he will be.

News Flash: The Internet is Public!

Internet Privacy

I keep seeing these posts here and there – Facebook, Twitter, Blogs – about people declaring their privacy on the Internet. There are “privacy policies” by companies like Facebook and Twitter, Google and Instagram that we have to read and agree to before we use their services (free services, I might add). And the Internet has been wildly popular for quite a number of years, so you’d think people would know things by now. It’s not like the early 1990s on the Today Show when they were asking “What is ‘Internet’?

Then again, maybe it still is!  More
