John Trumbull's "Declaration of Independence, July 4, 1776"

I realize most everyone from the United States is going to be busy at this time with the National 4th of July Holiday. For those of you who are reading outside of the United States, the 4th of July is a very patriotic holiday marking the day of independence. It’s also known as Independence Day, and draws many people from around the country (and even the world) to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where it all began. This great and solemn patriotic holiday is celebrated as every great, solemn federal holiday. It’s celebrated by drinking and eating until you puke.

So most people won’t even remember reading this blog post. Hell, I probably won’t even be around to publish it – I have to be somewhere with Hubby.

So I’ll just quickly talk about my gratefulness to the governments for finally (FINALLY!!) recognizing that homosexuals are not the spawn of Satan, and that their right to marry will not destroy the sanctity of marriage (you never needed homosexuals to do that; straight people have been doing that since time immemorial – remember Britney Spears and Kim Kardashian?). Not only did the U.S. Supreme Court overturn DOMA (Happy Dance!), but just a few days later the State of Delaware began offering same-sex marriage (no longer just relegated to the “civil union” category), and Hubby and I were in line, first thing in the morning, to get our Civil Union converted to a Marriage.

So, thank you, Supreme Court Justices; and thank you, State of Delaware!

And I hope you all have a happy 4th of July! (I’ve heard asparagus is good for a hangover…)
