Justifiable Judgmentalism

Judgment

It’s so easy to judge others, isn’t it? So much so, that it often happens before we even realize it. Someone cuts us off on the road, and we immediately recognize them as an “ass hole” or a “friggin moron!” It’s an unmistakable classification of humanoids, of course, distinguishable by their lack of charity or awareness of any other species in their vicinity. And because we’ve defined them as such by their behaviour, we are justified in our judgment. It’s a “righteous judgment” of sorts, just like anyone who drives faster than us is an idiot, and anyone who drives slower than us is a moron.

Gun Control

We all know it. We’ve all seen it. Everything from the news reports, to the laws and the discussions in the papers, in schools, in offices across the country. Ever since the mass shooting in Newtown, CT, a flood of discussions, anger, arguments, and denial over gun laws and the Second Amendment has been a major part of our lives. As I write this post, President Obama has just announced his plans for gun control, the NRA is up in arms (pun intended) about the entire issue, calling everyone that opposes anything they say an “elitist¬†hypocrite” (Really?);¬†and day by day, more people turn to the Second Amendment and ask, “should we do something about this?”

Random Thoughts (Part I)

I occasionally have these random thoughts. Rather than letting them die a lonely death, I decided to write them down until I had enough of them to post here. These are the ideas that I thought, “Gee, I should post a blog about that,” but then realize it’s either too stupid or short (or both) to create an entire blog posting for, so I save them in Evernote (I love that app!) until I have enough of them saved to torture you with them. So, as you read, you may be thinking, “Perhaps some of them should have died that lonely death….”

This is my first installment of “Random Thoughts.” Enjoy… or not.

Ever Have One of Those Days?

Did you ever have one of those days when it seemed like everything was getting in your way and pissing you off? Other drivers, buses, elevators: they’re all out to get in my way, make me late, and piss me off.

Incoming!!

I just experienced one of the most disgusting things a person can do in public and still get away with it: Someone hocked a loogie the size of a softball out of an SUV while waiting for the light to change. And what made it worse? It was a woman (at least what appeared to be a woman, but I could be wrong about that as well).

Another Pet Peeve!

Driving and Talking

The other weekend my partner and I did our usual Saturday run (by ‘run,’ I mean sitting in the car driving from place to place). In doing so, I experienced many people doing another one of my extreme pet peeves – talking on their phone while driving! More

Texting while driving

By now, it’s a well-known fact that driving while texting, or talking on the phone without a hands-free device, is dangerous. So many people have been killed in accidents because a driver was preoccupied with their phone, their conversation, or their text chat. And let’s face it – there are a lot of people who simply have problems doing more than one thing at a time (like chewing gum and walking).
