I Think I’ve Created a Monster

Sleeping Chihuahuas

Many years ago, when Hubby and I first met, neither one of us had pets. Oh, I’ve had dogs in my childhood. They were always strays. The one we had the longest (and she was the one of the best dogs ever) was Missy. She was still relatively young when she found us – maybe 2 years old – and we had her until she died about 14 years later. But she was the most gentle and loving dog you’d ever meet, part Labrador and part Collie, and you’d only have to fear being licked to death from her. More

Enchantment In Our Near Future

Old San Juan

This is going to be another one of those really really short posts, because my mind is otherwise pre-occupied. (I know, I know! How’s this different from any other time?!?) Well, this time Hubby and I are getting ready to leave for the Isle of Enchantment for a long weekend of nothing but relaxation. More

The Fall Whines Are Plentiful This Year

It’s that time of the year again. The weather is turning colder in this region, which means things are beginning to change. For those who don’t know, the Philadelphia region of the United States has four distinct seasons throughout the year; though in all honesty, some years they’re less distinctive. And with the onslaught of cooler weather, we’re forced to wear layers of clothes to stay warm, to put away the flip-flops (some stalwarts I know try to hang on to them until it snows; and even then reluctantly put them away) and the shorts, to break out the sweaters, the jackets, and eventually the fur-lined parkas.

Puerto Rico: The Isle of Enchantment

El Morro

I was recently blessed with the chance to visit Puerto Rico – the birthplace of Hubby. After being together for over 10 years, and Hubby not getting to visit with his family very much over those years because of finances, we decided it was well past time that we tighten our belts, bite the financial bullet, and just do it, even if it was just for an extended weekend. We were able to do it by purchasing our flights months ago, and getting them paid off well in advance, and then the hotel bill would come in later. Sort of like buying your vacation in an installment plan. I guess you could say it was part of my own, personal bucket list – to see the beautiful island of Puerto Rico.

There’s a reason why it’s called La Isla del Encanto (the Island of Enchantment).
